    We take refuge within the sturdy walls of the courtyard and are greeted by a banquet feast of candlelight. The heart of the forest lies deeper within than we dare venture, but it resonates through our own hearts and bodies, even as we depart. These woods are a place of mystery, concealing more than they reveal. Glimmers of magic reveal themselves within the ancient stand of trees.

    The Heart of the Forestĭeep within the wood, a hillside emerges, a dense wood. Within a garden of glass domes, we encounter small reminders of this life force that is, at times, so delicate and in need of gentle care and protection. The Glass GardenĪs the air turns brisk and the verdant sunken garden begins to brown, life goes on beneath the surface. Bursts of light and sound carry us along the arcade of trees, onward! The wind moves sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly to opposite ends of the Lane, underscoring the unceasing but also unpredictable movements found in nature – both overt and subtle. The Lane is a transitional space, inspired by winds, ever-changing in winter.

    The reflections of the pool bring the surrounding trees into sharper focus, as the landscape and the water become one. From rushing flowing torrents to pooling transformations, and finally to the solid subtle stillness of ice. The onset of winter brings a slow metamorphosis of water. The PoolĪround the bend as we near the edge of the trees, a glistening pool comes into view. Inspired by this natural phenomenon, we imagine the voices of the trees, illustrated in light and the rich sounds of wood. For that is what trees do – they confer with one another through intricate networks of subterranean fungi. We begin the journey through a dense grove of trees and find them mid-conversation. We wanted to conjure those emotions using a combination of light, sound, and sculpture to evoke an atmosphere that stimulates memory and awakens the imagination. It bids a host of emotions that differ from person to person. There is something evocative about being in the woods at night: a connection to our ancient past, to old traditions and long-forgotten experiences.
